Writing a book, research paper, screenplay, or long article isn't just about hitting the keys until it's done. Research meetings, brainstorming ideas, shuffling receipts, calling strangers... Most writing programs show that the hard work is done. Meet Scrivener: a word processing and project management tool that takes you from your first rough idea to your final draft. Write down and organize your thoughts, take notes, research your writing, and note the genre you're writing in. Scrivener doesn't tell you how to write; it simply lets you use all the tools on your desktop in one application.

With access to a powerful text engine, you can insert tables, figures, and diagrams, as well as add comments and footnotes to your text. Format it using the options bar at the top of the page, or use your preferred font for the text and let Scrivener reformat your writing when you're done, so you can focus on the words.
